The Middle School Math Academy focuses on implementing grade-appropriate content through coherent mathematics with an emphasis on helping educators facilitate engaging mathematical discourse in the classroom. Participants will reflect on their own teaching practices and an experienced Carnegie trainer will provide access points to change instructional practices based on research and best practices in mathematical teaching. High School Special Education staff are encouraged to attend if they work with students learning math material at the middle school level. This two day academy focuses heavily on the following math content: Geometric Thinking, Proportional Reasoning, Algebraic Thinking, Exploring the Structure of Functions
